2018 Lady’s Slipper Hike

It’s time for our annual spring hike on the Winter River trail. As usual we hope to see some Lady’s Slipper flowers in bloom. We will have knowledgeable guides to point out features of interest along the way. We will also have a snack break at the family cabin of one of our volunteers.

Saturday June 9, 2018 – 10:00am to 12:00

Meetup location will be the parking lot/trail head for the Winter River trail (145 East Suffolk Road Extension in Suffolk).

More information about the trail on the Island Trails website:

Dogs are allowed on the trail. For our group hike, we ask that people keep their dogs on a leash.

2018 Annual General Meeting

Our Annual General Meeting will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday May 22 at Corran Ban Hall (1231 Rte 6).

Our guest speaker for the evening, Evan MacDonald, will discuss “Sustainable Agriculture Resources – using new technology for soil conservation.”

Evan works in the Sustainable Agriculture Resources division within the PEI Department of Agriculture and Fisheries. He will chat about how they use drones, how they turn the information collected by drone into something useful on the land that helps keep silt out of our streams; how LiDAR (elevation) data can be used to identify higher risk areas for erosion (areas of concentrated flow); and available funding programs (focusing on Agriculture Stewardship and Soil conservation in particular).

Everyone is welcome and encouraged to attend.
